How Chomps Boosted In-Store Sales with Profit-Driving Merchandising Support

Chomps partnered with Retail Merchandising Services (RMS) to drive sales and guarantee strong shelf execution in one of the largest general merchandise retailers in the U.S.

Spanning eight service cycles, RMS provided planogram (POG) maintenance across multiple Grocery and Endcap POGs, resulting in higher-than-industry results and plenty of happy snackers across the country.

Building a Partnership that Works

With RMS leading in-store execution, Chomps collaborated with Target’s headquarters teams to deliver results above industry averages by:

  • Elevating in-store execution 
  • Ensuring POG set accuracy
  • Planogram maintenance
  • Stocking all POGs to capacity with available backstock inventory

The secret to the campaign’s success?

Consistent in-store execution that helped increase the impact of Chomp’s in-store brand presence.

The Work

First, RMS developed a schedule to ensure frequent and consistent service.

What this looked like: A 30-minute service window, completed once or twice weekly (frequency varied by store sales volume)

Then, during each service window, RMS’ highly trained reps:

  • Executed POG maintenance and zoning,
  • Stocked to ensure product alignment with the planogram,
  • Flexed as needed to account for out-of-stocks while never sacrificing brand appeal.

Finally, real-time reporting on inventory gaps made sure that Chomps was able to proactively manage replenishment and maintain on-shelf availability, while RMS’ boots-on-the-ground executed in a timely manner.

The Results

A successful merchandising partnership launched Chomps to secure all top-five ranking SKUs in the snack category by sales volume during the campaign period.

  • Stocked over 184,000 units in the eight weeks, averaging 23,000 units weekly
  • Serviced more than 1,800 store locations each week
  • Achieved an average compliance rate of 96% over the eight-week campaign
